Reality Show Top Hooker (Not the XXX kind)

We at ShotemandCaughtem just heard the news about a new TV show coming to the airwaves and thought we would pass it along.

The producers of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter are bringing a new reality series to TV called Top Hooker.

It’s not what you may be thinking – reality TV hasn’t quite stooped that low. Yet.

The producers have gathered “America’s best and boldest fishermen to take on Animal Planet’s extreme fishing competition.” The show will air on theAnimal Planet channel. From last year’s casting call:

On this brand new TV show, you and a handful of daring fishing enthusiasts will tackle exciting and intense challenges on America’s rivers, lakes, streams and even the open ocean. Are you ready for adventure?

We are looking for competitive, outgoing, and skilled anglers, spear fishermen, game fishermen, fly fishermen, trawlers and trappers from all walks of life. It doesn’t matter if your experience is commercial, sport or recreational. As long as you’re skilled, adaptable, and confident enough to take on anything we throw at you, you could win a big grand prize and the title of Animal Planet’s first Top Hooker.

Great Hunting Dog Article

We at ShotemandCaughtem feel to be a great hunter or fisherman that you must have a love for animals.  Not only must you respect mother nature and what she provides, but you must appreciate what she gives you in return.  We remember the first time we watched a well trained hunting dog in the field.  If you have never had the chance, even if not a hunter, it is a sight everyone should take the time to see.  Never have we seen such devotion and love as what comes from a well trained animal.  Even if they are not hunters by trade, even your home companion can make you appreciate what fine animals roam this earth.  When reading an article we could not help but reflect on not only our own animals, but what we have had the fortune to see when out in the field.  This article is a great read and we felt we should pass it along.  Should you also have an animal that needs a little glory we hope that you will post a photo of your animals to the gear section and start a discussion as well.  Enjoy! http://www.kansas.com/2013/01/26/2651620/age-changes-a-dogs-approach-to.html

Safari Club International Convention

Toady marks the opening day of the Safari Club International Convention in Reno, NV.  Jan 23-26 visitors will be able to increase their knowledge on the costs and benefits of going on a wide variety of safari hunts around the world.  Whether you have the need to travel to Africa to hunt or to the Amazon to fish this is the place to acquire all the information you need to have a successful trip.  Though we will warn you that many of these trips can cost in excess of tens of thousands of dollars, you might just take it as an experience of a lifetime.  We hope that if you have had the opportunity to travel abroad to hunt or fish that you might show us some of your photos and help us start a dialogue with our members about the ups and downs of a safari hunt.  To learn more about the convention visit www.showsci.org.

NSSF Shot Show vs Reed Exhibitions

After attending the Shot Show we found out about the Eastern Sports and Outdoor show.  We at shotemandcaughtem found through the NSSF that this stuff was going on and thought we would pass along the information in case our members had not heard the news.

Per the NSSF:

We have just learned that Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.

In the days following Reed Exhibitions’ announcement that modern sporting rifles would be prohibited from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the leadership of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has been in intense, frank discussions with Reed Exhibitions management in an effort to reverse this unacceptable decision. These discussions reached an impasse.

NSSF is in no way affiliated with, nor does it participate in or exhibit at this show in any way. Reed Exhibitions does, however, manage the NSSF-owned SHOT Show (though Reed manages the SHOT Show, all SHOT Show decisions, policies and actions are made at NSSF’s direction).

Because of Reed’s recent actions, NSSF is considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows.

They along with a large amount of sponsors will not be attending the Show which happened to be this weekend and has now been postponed due to the outcry.

Kansas Fall Turkey Season

The 2012-2013 fall turkey season is coming to a close, but not before Kansas hunters get one last chance to bag their late-season bird. From Jan. 14-31, hunters will have the opportunity to hunt turkey once more in any of the five open units. The next opportunity to hunt Kansas turkey won’t come again until the beginning of April, so it’s time to hit the blind one last time!

Fall permit holders can hunt Units 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 for fall turkey and may only hunt within the management unit printed on their permits. In addition, hunters must have a Kansas hunting license, unless exempt by law. Any hunter with a fall turkey permit can purchase as many as three turkey game tags during the fall season, valid in Units 2, 3, 5 and 6. During the fall season, both toms and hens may be taken.

The 2013 spring turkey season will begin with the archery, youth/disabled season, April 1-9, and the firearm season will run April 10 - May 31.  This happens to be the time of year when we at shotemandcaughtem love to break out our decoys and start calling in the big boys.  Even though we saw plenty of turkey this fall......when they were not in season we have not got to shoot one this fall so show us what you were able to do this fall on our shotem gallery!

Shotem and Caughtem Merchandise

In getting ready to leave for the 2013 Shot Show in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Sands Convention Center, we at Shotem and Caughtem went out on a limb and had some swag created to help promote our new website.  We decided to make some vinyl stickers and some short sleeve cotton t-shirts made with our two logos.  We had our good friends at www.TSAFindustries.com create the tshirts and part of our money goes to support our United States Army Rangers.  The circle logo is our original logo and the other, of course, is the Shotem and Caughtem logo you see on the website.  We wanted to see just what kind of response we might get when it comes to having some merchandise to go along with our love for hunting and fishing.  We believe that nothing goes better with our need to do as much hunting and fishing as we can, than showing our pride around town or out in the field.  We would love to get your thoughts on whether you too would like to have these stickers to put on your gun cases, safes, or on that trusted vehicle that you take out into the field, or if you would help us promote your love of the great outdoors with one of our shirts.  Either way come back to the website often since we plan on having giveaways of these promotion items to help get more of you and your friends to come be apart of what we think will be the ultimate hunting and fishing website on the world wide web.  Email us your thoughts at This email address is being protected from spambots. Welcome to Shotem and Caughtem

Welcome to ShotemandCaughtem.com.  A social photo sharing website for the hunting and fishing enthusiast in mind.  Whether it is a trophy buck, a massive tuna, a cool new gun or a day that just din't go as plan, we encourage you to share the photo and the story you have and most importantly have some fun!  The creator's of shotemandcaughtem.com came up with the idea of a social photo sharing site based on what we have been doing for years.  There is nothing more fun to us than bragging about the Alaskan King Salmon we have caught or the beautiful pheasant that we shot to our buddies.  It has festered into a fun way to share the experiences we have had in the great outdoors.  We searched the web and found plenty of forums and walls to post pictures but not one that had a fun, creative way to brag about how well you did on your adventure.  A place where trash talking, bragging, having a conversation and meeting new people with new experiences is a requirement.  A place were you could connect with friends and meet new ones who pride themselves as great hunters or fisherman/woman.

ShotemandCaughtem.com is in its infancy and will be an ever expanding social networking site.  Additions to the site will come regularly as we take the ideas we have in mind to make this site your premier choice as hunters and fisherman/woman.  We will constantly review the website to see what you as users are building in your groups and conversations to make this a fun and exciting place to share your photos and stories.  We wanted to get something started so that our users could help us build the ultimate hunting and fishing website.  So let's talk about what you will find here at shotemandcaughtem.com and what we have built.
