Hunting and Fishing Friendships and Bonds

Recently we were having a discussion about Shotem and Caughtem which presented some worries about becoming a member we felt needed to be addressed.  The person felt like Shotem and Caughtem potentially competed with their own person blog about hunting and fishing related stories and products.  They felt that becoming a member might detract from there own hopes of creating a business around the subject of hunting and fishing.  However, once we explained what we are all about they began to want to learn more about our site, expanding friendships and sharing knowledge about hunting and fishing is at our core.  A social network to meet others and discuss adventures and opportunities with one another.  We hope that our members use the website to expand their own fan base just like they use other networks such as facebook, instagram, youtube and twitter.  The difference between those and us is that everyone that is a member on our site loves the great outdoors.  A target rich environment.

Expanding your SEO reach in the industry

We hope to help those who help us.  We want to turn the point of a social network on its head by rewarding those who take the time to post and reward us through their interactions on the website.  We are more than aware that we are not the expert in all things hunting and fishing and that our members have a wealth of information in different aspects of the industry.  We want to create a site that gives back.  A social network should be built to help those who contribute.  We want our members to share links to their blogs, post pictures of their adventures, great ways to cook wild game, and share what their services have to offer to those in the market.  We want our members to grow with us and reward them for our help.  Our help is that as we expand our reach instead of being bombarded with ads to make money that we can use our blog as a resource for others to want to contribute their stories and information.  The small banner ads on the website will be the only form of advertising.

Best Hunting and Fishing Community on the World Wide Web

This is our goal.  To create a place for all the latest and greatest information relating to the hunting and fishing industry.  With all the noise on the web we hope to help spread the word about great products, recipes and adventures to help create one big voice.  We hunt and fish so we have always been use to going after the big game.  We hope with all of the cyber bullying happening on other social networks that we can create a place free from the hunting and fishing hating community.  Need more mobility?  We now have an app so you can take Shotem and Caughtem with you on your mobile devices http://www.shotemandcaughtem.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&layout=item&id=282&Itemid=491 We hope you come join us and share.

When we at Shotem and Caughtem first got the idea of creating a social network the task seemed extreme.  Sure there are plenty of forums on the web around the subject but nothing that incorporated all the advantages that an engaging network could accomplish.  We also noticed that many of the people who hunt and fish only really share with people who hunt and fish on instagram, facebook, youtube and twitter.  However, those companies are huge in their memberships, it will be too hard to get traffic to us.  Luckily for us this first year of growth has been small but awesome.  Those we have attracted to the site have been great in helping us find our true stride in the outdoorsman and woman market.  Also, with the recent bashing of people who hunt and fish on these larger platforms we are finding more and more who want to find a place to get away from those who don't share the outdoor passion.

One of the biggest requests has been an app.  A place where we can control our entire outdoor experience from where we tend to be......out in field or on the water.  Well we at Shotem and Caughtem are excited to tell you that we listened and the app is being developed as we speak.  We are hoping to release the beta model to some of our members in the coming month.  If you too want to be a part of helping us create a social network app for you our members and would like to help us find the glitches we encourage you to become a part of our site.  You can also go to www.shotemandcaughtem.com/chauncey , become a friend and send me a message letting me know you would like to be one of the first to check out the new app.  Don't worry even if you don't want to help and your just excited to get it on your phone?  The app will be free as well and available for both the android and iphone markets.

We hope you are as excited as we are and help us spread the word once the the app hits the market.  Thanks as always for being a part of Shotem and Caughtem we can't thank you enough for all the support you have given us over the past year.  Android and IPhone apps now available http://www.shotemandcaughtem.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&layout=item&id=282&Itemid=491

iPhone and Smart Phone Scope Adapters

Recently we at Shotem and Caughtem were approached by Inteliscope, LLC about their new Shooter's Tactical Rifle Adapter and Apple App.  They sent us a press release talking about their new creation.  This reminded us of the different companies which offer different adaptations and ways to help make your smart phone part of your scope (iscope) or a scope itself like the intelliscope.  Since we have never been able to test one of these products we thought we would get our members involved in the discussion.  Our concerns are many when it comes to these unique gadgets.  We are hoping some of our members participate and help us learn if these things have real potential or are just a cool thing that work sometimes.  Leave us your feedback in the comment section below we would love to learn more about these devices.

How do they hold up to the stress of different rifles?  I know my 30-06 kicks like a mule and would certainly cause damage to a smart phone that without a protective case would break if dropped.  The Inteliscope only gives you 5x zoom.  This would be fine on a 50 yard shot but what happens when you are out 100 yards or more?  Seems like a lot of money when you probably would do just as good with a little practice on iron sights.  Many of these allow you to record at the same time you are using the devices.  I can't tell you how many times after the shot we sometimes lose where our main focal point was aiming.  Wouldn't a fixed camera like a go pro or something like that have better results?

If you would like more information on inteliscope you can visit them on facebook.  We hope that any of our members that have had a chance to use such a device will let us ask them question in the comment section below.
